RISE OF THE HORIZON
Rise of the Horizon is an orchestral composition showcasing unique themes to different biomes in nature. From sunrise to sunset, each movement captivates a different scene, reutilizing and adapting the main melody as it goes.
I. Dawn
Dawn, the sunrise, introduces the main melody with a vibrant woodwind sound.
II. Sahara
Sahara, the desert, brings upon a tone rich with deep strings and a prominent brass melody. With the help of changing from pizzicato to articulated bowing in the strings, the percussion does not hold back to drive this movement.
III. Tundra
Tundra, the winter theme, is a lighter, flute and clarinet heavy scene with a brief, but transitionary melody.
IV. Jungle
Jungle, the rainforest theme, reintroduces the main melody but with a counterpart in a relative minor key change. This movement also highlights the "Storm" mid-movement scene which intervenes the theme with triplet runs from violins and woodwinds, displaying a range of chaos and triumph.
V. Dusk
Dusk, the sunset, brings the entire piece to a finale, with the main melodic theme coming to a slow, but joyful end.
This composition will be performed on November 26, 2024, at the University of South Florida's Judy Genshaft Honors College (JGHC) in Tampa, FL. It will be conducted by Jared and performed by the USF JGHC Orchestra.
